Wolf Van Elfmand & The Alternate Sides

Raised in Colorado, guitarist and songwriter Wolf van Elfmand creates with inspiration from a swath of American roots music. Since 2019 he’s released 5 records including Don’t Call It Country, which hit shelves on March 1st 2024. Wolf is undoubtedly a familiar-looking, archetypal figure from a version of the West, with musical DNA patchwork comprised of a 50s and 60s folk revival vocal vibrato plus round and sturdy fingerstyle guitar picking with hands trying to figure what a Rocky Mountain-raised, less acrobatic Chet Atkins might have sounded like. His work is a product of a good sense of humor, a good heart, and his ability to ignore the omnipresent whispers from life asking him to be still.

Country music in New York might die like a sidewalk crack bloom on a well trodden path. Formed by Andrew Spaulding (Pill) and Oscar Allen Guinn (Rhinestone) Quartz Casino Band thrives in the Brooklyn soil: watered by whiskey, fertilized by lead paint flakes, and the J train’s lullaby.  Where the train goes the track goes first; respect to those who sang before is the key to country. QCB touches on the music of Steve Earle, Eagles, Lee Hazlewood, and, of course, George Jones.  The diversity of songwriting is apparent, no one song sounds the same as the last, but they’re all complimentary like a good plate of country cooking should be.  Share a beer and a tear, have a party if it’s hearty, Quartz Casino Band will be there for both.

LEO LOVECHILD

Born and bred as a rock & roll band (Lovechild) in the basement venues, dive bars, and subway cars of the Lower East Side, the project of Leo Lovechild emerges today as a twangy four-piece of killer musicians who carry Leo’s fresh and authentic songwriting reimagined into something somewhat country, somewhat rock, and extremely New York. His upcoming album, Skyscraper Country, portrays the life and times of F.J. Stein, a struggling singer/songwriter who desperately yearns for fame and love as he peddles his way through venues and relationships both in and out of New York City. The album's first single “K*LL BOB,” released on January 3, is a darkly twisted piece of satire about taking down his idol to garner attention and gain himself notoriety. His next single, "Roses," arrived on Valentine's Day, with the album's third single, "All My Friends," to follow in March. Catch Leo Lovechild and his band live in and out of New York City in the coming months!
